Corona d'Oro is a 4 star, comfortable, friendly and extremely clean hotel in the heart of Bologna, 5 minutes from the Piazza Maggiore. My friend and I were warmly welcomed by the courteous staff who spoke both English and Italian. Our single rooms were on the first floor at the front of the hotel. A pleasant location and - with the balcony doors open - rather lively. I loved lying in my bed, listening to the sounds of the city slowly waking up. If you prefer a somewhat quieter experience, simply close the doors, and all the noise disappears. The rooms are well maintained, very clean and equipped with all modern cons. Most important: the beds are very comfortable. My marble bathroom came with a good shower. The beating heart of the hotel is formed by a light and airy lounge with a glass roof. Its cosy chairs and sofas are a nice place to drink coffee or tea and rest after a day in beautiful Bologna. The hotel's restaurant Casa Azzoguidi has recently undergone an extensive renovation and is exceptionally beautiful and elegantly decorated. Modern chic, very Italian and quite cosy at the same time. Unfortunately the restaurant was fully booked during our stay. The menu looks promising though. The restaurant also serves as a breakfast room where a well-cared-for breakfast is served in the morning. The choice is relatively limited, but the quality of what is on offer is very good. A fine hotel to which I certainly hope to return.

The location is absolutely superb, as everything worth seeing is only 5 - 10 min walk. The rooms are very comfortable, with lovely bedlinen. The newly renovated breakfast / dining room is absolutely lovely, and the breakfast was good. It was a bit strange that you needed to pay for freshly cooked eggs, which we didn't. But there are cold boiled eggs, or scrambled eggs in the hot buffet anyway. There were plenty of cheeses and meats, breads and pastries, yoghurts and fruit etc. You don't really want to fill up too much on breakfast as you're in Bologna, and must have lunch somewhere! The cocktail bar is also beautiful - only opens from afternoon. Really stylish interior, gorgeous glassware, trendy snacks & nibbles. There were locals in for aperitivos, as well as guests - always a good sign. Around the corner (go right outside the front door, then right again) are 2 or 3 little wine bars where you can get lunch, or an evening meal, or share a bottle of wine.

We arrived early evening and we had two members of staff great us outside as our taxi drew up. They greeted us by name and had kindly upgraded one of our rooms. Check in was quick. We had a welcome gift and our room was perfect. The location is right in the middle of Bologna. We asked for a resturant recommendation and the reception booked it for us and gave us a nap with clear instructions. After dinner we returned to the hotel and enjoyed drinks the back terrace. Breakfast was very nice - all the staff were wonderful and we will return.

A little gem in the heart of Bologna! Staff excellent, property was fabulous, room very clean and a decent size for one person with a king bed. Breakfast included, the night I was going to eat in at the property restaurant it was closed for a private function. So the front desk staff made a suggestion to call a local restaurant who would deliver and within 30mins, I had a hot meal in my room! Also had a private massage in my room and a private car to the airport all arranged by this hotel and staff. Would highly recommend this hotel!

This hotel really exceeded my expectations. The greeting i got upon arrival was really special, i've never felt so welcomed when arriving at a hotel, i honestly felt like family. The lady who checked me in was so friendly she gave me a tour of the hotel/breakfast dining area and showed me to my room. The rooms are nice and spacious with plenty of amenities, and this location could not be better, right next to everything in Bologna! The staff here really made this stay 5 stars.
